How To Cite
General Resources
Duke Library's Assembling a List of Works Cited - This is a comparative guide. Select the type of resource you are using, then look for the style your instructor requires. Be SURE you use the right example!
A few helpful hints about citing your research:
- Be sure you know which style your professor wants you to use. It matters!
- As you research, be sure you are collecting citation information as you find your material. It is hard to go back and reconstruct the information after the fact. Work on your bibliography as you go.
- When citing information found in GALILEO - use the format of the original document. If you find a newpaper article in a GALILEO database, use the citation style for a newpaper article. At the end of the citation, put "Accessed through GALILEO [date you saw the article].
- GALILEO is NOT an internet source, you get there via the Internet.
