The National Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration is set to kick off next month. This is a national effort to recognize Abraham Lincoln's place in American history and to celebrate and acknowledge his accomplishments and legacy. Click here to see the official Bicentennial site.

New additions to the Collection include several of the newest Lincoln monographs, including Boller's Presidential Diversions, Holzer and Gabbard's Lincoln and Freedom: Slavery, Emancipation and the Thirteeth Amendment, and Harris' Lincoln's Rise to the Presidency. A special treasure is Chuck Wills' Lincoln: The Presidential Archives which includes facsimile copies of items important in Lincoln's life - including a reproduction of a copy sheet from his school years and other important items. While reproductions, they do give a sense of the actual items in a way that makes more impact than a photo.

The Institute for Continued Learning (ICL) was in the Library for the first of four sessions looking at Abraham Lincoln on June 13, 2007. The members of the class viewed representative samples of the Ogletree Lincolniana Collection, and a short explanation of the scope of the material and the Library's efforts to preserve and maintain it for use.
